Linkeatbanana • 7 месяцев назад • #105646558I looked into RAHs for a while because I love the sculpt work on a lot of them. Also, their size is very nice (why are JP manufacturers so averse to 1/6?). Got very close to buying the Links and EVAs a couple of times, but never went through with it because of all the reports of RAH's terrible longevity. Broken joints, figures falling apart when you pose them after a couple of years, and the rubber on the EVAs becoming brittle and breaking. That's just not acceptable for the premium price Medicom asked for them (30.000 - 40.000+ a piece). It's not acceptable at any price. If you're going to make articulated figures, they shouldn't break when people articulate them!
My guess is they couldn't get these issues under control and gave up.

I didn't know the horror stories of RAH figures, especially old ones. My first big purchase when I got my first job was ITEM #2397 and I've never taken him from the box. Kinda scared to now. At least he has a small display window if you pry the flap open, but for the price of these things I never imagined they'd be so fragile.

Hey, OP, I stand corrected, it seems they're making a new EVA unit that actually comes out this month (ITEM #1159312) so the line doesn't appear to be completely dead?

They seemed to have a lot of QC issues.

I have three, two of which I bought brand new and they're fine (Black Butler), and one I got locally that luckily didn't have the issues I'd found most of them to have online (FMA Mustang)

A part of me has wanted to track down a Darker Than Black Hei at some point given that's literally the only figure made of the character, but I know the coat most likely will be an automatic replacement given the pleathery material just cracks and degrades. And with the aftermarket price so crazy high I can't bring myself to try.

Daiza • 7 месяцев назад • #105647872As someone who owns two, like what others said I think Medicom might have just dropped the line due to quality issues they couldn't reign in, which is a shame because they do look really nice! But yeah, they seem to definitely have issues with things like their clothes deteriorating if made out of certain materials and their joints are also a pain, unfortunately. Some of the figures in this line looked good, but as soon as you start posing them, you better say your prayers that your figure won't be limbless after a few tries.

I know mildly older ones were notoriously breakable but I thought the newer bodies were fine. My four Fate ones were newer (UBW and later) and seemed fine so far.

I can see clothing material being a problem though. Anything rubberized for toys tends to deteriorate…

I really thought the base figs were under control for QC but maybe not. Sad. They will be missed.

It's just a guess, but I'd assume that it was due to the quality. Some of the figures in this line looked good, but as soon as you start posing them, you better say your prayers that your figure won't be limbless after a few tries.

Their last one that was anime related was 2 years ago (EVA). Still sad to this day that they no longer produce Jojo ones because those were of amazing sculpting and are the closest thing we Jojo fans have to statues/scales TT plus they were never re-released so pretty expensive on the aftermarket.

Yeah seems like Medicom practically dropped the line, which is sad cause i'm sure rereleases of a lot of series that generally don't have figures beside RAH would sell out instantly.
