Greetings.

Today, we'll be taking a look at my other most recent arrival, Azusa Nakano from Max Factory. Took me a while to come up with this article because I was busy trying to improve on my photography and I believe I got some decent results now.

For those of you that don't know, Azusa Nakano is one of the main characters from a popular anime series called K-On! Specifically, she is one of the two guitarists that make up the Light Music Club at the school they attend. Now, while I'm sure everyone out there has a favorite girl in this anime, for me that title goes to Azusa, or Azu-nyan, as she is nicknamed after trying out a pair of cat ears during the anime. Kitty girl? You bet.

Azusa can be described as the serious type, always trying to convince her friends at the club that they should practice instead of drink tea and eat sweets. That lax atmosphere from the Light Music Club is something she doesn't particularly like. Modest, shy, easily embarrassed, calm and structured are the traits that define her personality. If you followed the anime up to its ending, there's a very sweet plot point related to her and the graduation of the rest of the club members that I won't spoil here.

I'd say K-On! is up there as far as favorite anime series for me, so it was only natural that I'd want to get a figure from my favorite character there.

Having said that, let's now jump into this piece Max Factory did of Azusa back in 2011. (⌒ω⌒)

While I'm not particularly too excited about the dotted teal-white motif that makes up most of the box, I reckon the elements that are part of the design are nicely laid out and pleasing to look at. Cutouts from the figure can be seen at different scales from almost all angles you decide to look at the box. The bottom side is probably the nicer side to look at, as it features a big image of the figure itself complemented with a sleek selection of fonts that spell out the character's name. The same fonts are also used on the front, but I think the color selection used as a background on the bottom makes it stand out slightly more.

The box is sturdy enough and the quality of the colors is very vibrant to this day. This is a nice box to look at. It's not going to win any prizes, but it's definitely a good all-around contender as far as design. Measurements for the box sit at 160 h x 300 w x 180 d (mm). It's a bit wide due to the figure's posing but it shouldn't be expensive to ship out provided your seller sends her on a reasonably sized box.

Now, let's take a good look at the figure itself. ( ̄ω ̄)

⦿ Sculpting ⦿
I usually read pretty good comments about Max Factory online, and even though this figure was acquired cheaply, the quality definitely shows. The plastic itself has a very nice feeling to it and, upon close inspection, you can see that her hoodie, hair (including her signature twin tails), legs and socks have been nicely crafted.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297462.jpeg
I didn't appreciate cute ankles so much after noticing them on this figure. Like, I've been looking and touching them every now and then since I got this figure. Normally something you take for granted but that this figure has made me appreciate more.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297465.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297467.jpeg
Both her face and signature hairstyle are 100% accurate from what I remember from the show. Azusa's hair is surprisingly long untied, actually, but her twin tails are what many fans will most likely associate her with.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297476.jpeg
This particular seamline running across both sides of her hoodie doesn't really bother me. The ones on her shoulders look a bit rougher though.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297478.jpeg
There's also one running on her hair, from side to side.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297464.jpeg
Azu-nyan #2, AKA this cute little kitty figure over here, is a cute extra. Compared to some other small kitty add-ons I have, this one actually doesn't feel rough around the edges. I'd say is pretty well done for just being an add-on to the actual figure.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297477.jpeg
Azusa has a pretty round and nice, cute little butt right there, I didn't know this. :o I really love the way her legs are sculpted, up to the tip of her yellow sock-wearing feet. This is a part of the figure I wasn't expecting to focus my attention on, yet here we are, dedicating a small paragraph to how pretty these legs and feet look. x3

⦿ Painting ⦿
These are some vivid colors right here. I might have accentuated them a little bit more during post-processing, but I absolutely love how distinctive and striking the color scheme is on this figure. The red and yellow of her hoodie are sure to liven up any living space this figure is placed on. Azusa's skin tone has been perfectly realized on the figure, and as much as I still dream on that perfect suntanned figure of her, I still love the creamy look Max Factory achieved here. Her hair has been perfectly painted in black color, the yellow socks have a small shading to them, and her eyes have been accurately depicted. Even Azu-nyan #2 and the puff Azusa rests on have been very nicely painted out. All in all, great work over here.

⦿ Posing ⦿
Depending on who you are, this pose may or may not work out for you. Personally, it works great for me. Azusa appears to be laying out and relaxing on a puff while taking care and playing with Azu-nyan #2. There's a very lax aura coming from it, you could say. It evokes a sense of relaxation, dreaminess and cuteness you would expect from the show. Probably Azusa isn't the best to sport such an aura, but she eventually gave into it on the anime as well. I like the fact she's looking at the viewer and how her legs are laid out on the fluffy base.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297479.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/09/13/2297482.jpeg
Again, it really does it for me. It looks cute, evokes traits I associate with the anime, and just flat out feels nice to look at. Very great posing.
⦿ Base ⦿
An oval-shaped base with an extraordinarily fluffy finish. Too fluffy in fact. Not sure if it's because of age or quality, but part of the fluff on mine has been coming out, not massively but certainly a noticeable amount. As for the base, well, it's what you see, a fluffy oval. It ties in nicely with the feeling they were trying to evoke with the figure. However, it's a little too width for my taste and it kinda occupies a lot of shelf space, so better be mindful of that.

⦿ Personal Enjoyment ⦿
K-On! ranks highly on my anime list and is one of my favorite Kyoto Animation shows. Azusa, in particular, is one of my favorite characters there, so it comes to reason that the enjoyment I get from this figure sits high. Her complexion has been smartly realized on this 1/7 scale and the sculpting and painting are very well done. Every time I see the figure, I'm immediately reminded of the lax atmosphere the show was trying to showcase. I know Azusa wasn't particularly fond of those moments in the anime, but the times she took part in were particularly nice. This figure really brings out that extra cute side of her, in the form of her taking care of Azu-nyan #2.

⦿ Closing Thoughts ⦿
Surprisingly, this figure is kind of uncommon to come across, been hunting for her for a while. I was delighted when she finally popped on AmiAmi a few months ago at $35 in B/B condition. The figure was shipped via Air Small Packet to the US for $20, and from there to Venezuela via personal courier for around $40. A bit on the expensive shipping because AmiAmi opted for a larger-than-needed box. Her trip was long but safe and she arrived in perfect condition. This marks the first Azusa figure on my collection because, oh yes, there are a number of other figures of her I want to get. There is no such thing as having too many figures of the same character, right? Lol, well, at least as favorite characters go.

In the end, I'm very happy to have been able to add my favorite rendition of her. Even though I like the Alter, KyoAni and Clayz offerings of her, the Max Factory model was always my favorite. Some may say her bright colors are rather plastic-looking, but to me, I find this rendition of her really hits home with me. If you're an Azusa fan as well, I wholeheartedly recommend this figure to you. (✧ω✧)

Many thanks for taking the time to read my blog entry. Please feel free to comment on anything. Was it an enjoyable read? Do you also own this figure or any other Azusa figure? Was my amateur photography decent enough? Who is your favorite K-On! girl and why?

Next blog entry will be a review on one of my favorite figures, and a very naughty one too, so look forward to that one. ;3

Maakie4 месяца назад#75798801I am picking up reading older blogs again and had not realized you started reviewing as well, nice work! With this figure I especially like her outfit. Shorts in combination with high socks are my weak point, haha!
About feedback for the photography: I would try to avoid flash photography overall for these kind of pictures. Maybe for next reviews you can take the pictures in a daylight lit room or outside (garden/balcony) on a good day?
Pro tip for cleaning fluffy bases: Lint roller! :)

Hey there Maakie, thanks for dropping by here! ^_^ Aye, I did some of these reviews a few months ago but I haven't continued with them, mostly because I was waiting to get a newer phone for taking better pictures. Haha, I get you. x3 Socks are also a weak point for me. I really liked Azusa's pose for this figure. She looks so relaxed and comfy there. What's not to love? Her color scheme is pretty eye-catching too. ;)

Many thanks for the feedback. I will try to avoid flash as much as possible. I could probably try the daylight setting for my room. I've managed to upgrade the lighting in my apartment ever since I took these pictures and things look much better now. Haven't tried taking pictures under these improved settings but it should be at least a tad bit better now. Unfortunately, I'd love to take pictures outside but considering the place where I live, that's out of the question.

Ah! That's the thing I need. I know what you're talking about. I definitely need to get a lint roller to take care of all my fluffy bases. Many thanks for the tip there. :D

Honor_Hand10 месяцев назад#67169537Good point about the fluffy bases. I didn't consider that part during the review because this is the first fluffy base in my collection. My display is completely open so I'll probably need to clean this one on a regular basis then.

Cantisama10 месяцев назад#67135825Azu-nyan~ She looks amazing! I'm also a big K-On fan and hope pick this one up someday.
Only part I'm not a fan of is the base. Besides being too big, these fluffy bases tend to get dirty unless you have an enclosed display.
Thanks for the review. Your pics and commentary were great.

She's a great figure for any Azu-nyan fan out there. Good point about the fluffy bases. I didn't consider that part during the review because this is the first fluffy base in my collection. My display is completely open so I'll probably need to clean this one on a regular basis then.

Thanks for the comment! ^_^

Welcome to my blog. ヽ(*・ω・)ノ

Here I'll be posting mostly a random assortment of thoughts and pictures whenever I get some loot. I'll so try to post mini-reviews of most of my figures in hopes of sharing my opinion on them. Be mindful that due to circumstances, that will be on a not-so-regular basis.

My love for catgirls and kemonomimi grows strong, so feel free to stay and share any thoughts with me. (⌒ω⌒)
