WELCOME!
Investigation: Real v. Fake Dead Master figma
Objective: Critically compare/contrast both bootleg and authentic figma.
Starring: DEAD MASTER

Welcome to my investigation!
I accidentally bought a fake! The very second I unboxed the thing and saw its face, I knew it was a fake. *sigh* disappointing. Anyway...I decided to make the best of the situation (since I now have a fake and a real) and help my fellow collectors out there know the difference between the bootleg and the authentic!
Let's on on this adventure together!! Wheeeeeeee!
First Comparison: Bodies

-Firstly...look at how unnatural the bootleg's legs are... The authentic Dead Master's legs cannot bend that way.
-Secondly, the bootleg Dead Master is a flimsy little thing--it almost feels like it could break in an instant.
-Thirdly, the authentic Dead Master has easily movable hair curls, the bootleg's hair curls are tough to move
Second Comparison: Silly Faces

-Alrighty...look at the SHINE on the bootleg's face. Authentic figmas should not have shiny faces, no sir.
-I would also like to point out that the bootleg's mouth is sloppy, whereas the authentic has a neater-formed mouth
-Their skin is slightly different shades as well.
Third Comparsion: Regular Faces

-Once again, the bootlegs face has that annoying shine.
-The bootleg has darker eye-liner and a thicker mouth. The authentic's eye-liner is not so dark and her mouth is lighter.
Fourth Comparison: Neck Lines

-Look at how sloppy the bootleg's neckline is. It's like her choker bled into her neck. How sad.
-Once again, the skin color difference is more noticable.
Fifth Comparison: Backsides

-The bootleg seems to have two different skin tones where her back bends and moves. One is lighter and one is darker. It's also not really visible from this picture, but the bottom half of bootleg's back skin has little dark speckles.
-Once again, you can see where paint was missed or started bleeding into the figure
-Skin color is different
-If you look very closely, you can see that their wings have a slightly different color.
Sixth Comparison: Skulls

-The fake Skulls have more of a problem opening and closing their mouths. The authentic skulls do so with ease.
-The coloring inside the skulls is different. The fake has darker green while the authentic has a lighter green. Also, the fake has some little dark paint boogers inside of itself.
Seventh Comparison: Box Lids

-The Real is more vibrant than the fake. It's a lighter green and it's more defined.
-The fake is darker green and more faded.
-The Real has a nice glossy look on the box, while the fake has a dull shine.
Eighth Comparison: Box Backs

-The Real box is lighter in color.
-While the black parts on the fake box are black, on the real box, they are a shade of grey.
-The real box is more defined, while the fake is more faded!
I hope this interested you all! I know I was sure interested! :3 Anyway, I suppose we must all be on lookout for fake figures! They are EVERYWHERE nowadays!

I'm glad I could help! Bootlegs are super common on eBay, so one has to be very careful!
I would as well! It's interesting to read GSC's official bootleg comparison pages, but seeing the comparison from a fan's viewpoint is always good too.
i believe GSC already has a page for fake brs figmas.
Glad you got your money back! Almost worth the trouble for this post alone haha!
