So, today, I'll be reviewing Volks's "1/6" scale figure of Masou Shizuka from the Rance Series.
Shizuka is not only one of my favorite Rance characters, but one of my favorite characters in general. She's super cool, cute, and deep, and made me realize my love of mages. This figure is based on her Sengoku Rance design, though her box says Rance VI. Both are two of my favorite games of all time, so I won't complain.
So, before we talk about the figure, let's go over her box. I've already taken her out around a year ago, since I always take my figures out of their boxes, no matter how rare they are.
Here's the front. She has a nice pattern of Magic Circles, a picture of the figure, her name, and some logos. I bought her off of eBay for around $70, but I forgot if she was new or used. Her box still came in good condition. There is a bit of damage, but I think I caused it myself when stacking up boxes.
This side has a picture of the figure, and the art she is based on.
The back has pictures of the figure.
Other side has a picture of the figure
The top has a window. Also, does anyone know what that paper is for? I forgot to take a picture of it, but I can't read enough of what it says to figure out what it's about.
And the bottom has just a bunch of information on stuff.
So here's the figure herself! Shizuka looks exactly like she does in-game. Her pose also screams Shizuka. I really love how she holds her hat. For some weird reason, I've always really loved hats, and Shizuka has one of my favorites.
Her face looks exactly like Orion's art, and I love that.
Here's her side
Here's her back, the way her hair and robe look are really cool.
Here's the other side
Her painting is also really well done. I love how her finger nails are painted. While they're never seen that way in-game, it's a very cute and nice touch.
I also really like her boots. I guess this is a good time to mention her base. I like it a lot, being a Magic Circle, and she stands well on it. I haven't encountered any leaning yet. Which is good.
Shizuka comes with a number of different accessories. First off, there's an alternative hair piece that doesn't include her hat. You can use this for her robe, but it's meant to use for her other pose.
This is her alternative pose, where her hat, robe, and scarf are removed. The change is quite seamless, and looks good. Along with that, she looks quite attractive in this outfit~.
While the accesories are cool, they do tend to fall off for a bit. Once you get them on and secured, they stay on, so don't worry about them falling off when on display, but it's still a bit of a hassle when taking pictures.
So, while this figure claims to be 1/6th scale, she's closer to 1/8th.
As you can see here, Senna, who is 1/7th scale, is quite larger than her.
She's about the same size of Retia. who is 1/8th scale. Many of my Volks figures are this way. Why would they do this and lie? I don't know.
But, even with her few flaws, I really love this figure, and recommend it to anyone who likes Shizuka. The one thing is, she's been increasing in price over the last few years, so, if you can find her for a good price, then make sure to pick her up!
Also, as a side note, when I first took her out of the box, her paint somehow rubbed off and got onto my carpet. I can't get this stain out for the life of me. At least it's really small.
Oh yeah, also, if you haven't already, I recommend you check out the Rance Series! Don't be turned off by it's content, because it's story, characters, world, and OST are all some of the best ever. I'm really going to miss the series, though it ended on a perfect note.
