First 4 Figures: Majora's MaskFirst 4 Figures: Majora's MaskReview

Howdy doo, everybody! I've been away from blogging for a bit to focus on some room renovations, but now its time to get back to business with another review. Today we will look at one of the largest items in my collection as well as the spookiest. Let's check out this gigantic statue of Majora's Mask from the classic N64 game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. This product is by First 4 Figures.

The box is very big standing at 25 inches tall. It also features a highly ethereal design fitting to the darkest game in the Zelda series. Click any image to go to the file page where you can examine the item in full resolution.

Not much assembly is needed for this item. Put the mask on the base, put the horns on and Majora's Mask is ready to bring some major spookiness to your display.

This is the first statue in First 4 Figures' Life-Sized Replica line and it is significantly larger than their usual statues. Most of their statues I own are in the 15 inch range, but this demon stands roughly 24 inches tall to the tip of the horns. with its terrifying appearance and sheer size, this item will undoubtedly command the attention of anyone who sees it.

I did not order this during the initial pre-order because the original version only had a basic level of detail and didn't feel like it was worth the money. But a revised version with enhancements to the sculpt, color and additional details came later. Seeing how the revision turned out quickly changed my mind.

There is a lot of nice shading in the colors and a very detailed sculpt. I like how the mask is sprinkled with blackened chips and cracks to create the appearance of aged or decaying wood as shown in the original images.

The mask hangs in place fixed to the pegs at the ends of this V-shaped formation. If you pick this up with the mask still on, be sure to have it lean back a bit while you hold it so it doesn't fall off and smash to pieces.

One criticism I have repeatedly made about F4F's past products is unconvincing and unpolished vegetation like grass and wood. But it seems they have made some improvements in this area with this product. The grooves and shading of the wood is good with some bits of nicely crafted moss.

The texture of the wood, especially on the stump, is a tad on the smooth side. This is not something you would expect of a stump of tree in the woods. This little thing doesn't really detract from its appearance, but there are also some spots where the paint is a bit globbed and clumpy. This is mostly on the bark of the stump, so I suppose you could look at it as mud or dirt.

This tree themed base is much more realistic compared to their past attempts at vegitation, but it seems they still have some difficulty with crafting these particular design elements.

If you ordered the exclusive edition, only available on the F4F website, your mask comes with light-up eyes to make it extra creepy.

The eyes light up with a soft orange glow. There are also two modes for the lights: always on and slowly pulsating. These lights add the perfect final touch to make this demonic mask into a truly haunting display. I honestly feel legit creeped out when I see these eyes glowing in the dark. If I ever have children, I will be sure to make this their night-light. My baby will be safe with this mask of demented evil always staring at it in its crib.

This is easily my favorite piece in my TLOZ collection. Aside my criticisms of the paint on the base, this item is nearly perfect and makes an excellent centerpiece for any Nintendo display. My wallet may be in pain, but it was money well spent.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review. The next item on my list is MegaHouse's recently released G.E.M figure of C.C. from one of my favorite anime, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. See you next time!

maggie2 года назад#37590428Wow this actually makes me want to take another look at this figure company in all honesty. The quality looks amazing!
Congrats on your purchase! The bit about putting it in a child’s room made me laugh, I’ve been wondering a lot lately what is OK for kids to grow up with and see and what might not be XD

A little fear will build character. That Dead Hand mini boss in Ocarina of Time scared the crap out of me, but I turned out ok. *eye twitches*

franjandar2 года назад#37586607Dammit I wish I knew that so I could've ordered this figure earlier, do they ever do rereleases or do I have to buy it off of someone else?

Sorry, but these are limited in number worldwide and are never re-released. You'll have to stalk EBay and selling groups on Facebook now. :(

But if you head to F4F now, they still have some of their recent pre-orders like Banjo Kazooie and Shovel Knight still open with those payment plans.

ChocolateSpider2 года назад#37586333It's all because of a little miracle called monthly payments. F4F has made these even more afordable since they have expanded their time window for payments. I have several other statues ordered and they are just between $28 - $35 each month over 11 months.

SkiaEsh2 года назад#37585603Nice! I just got into F4F' Zelda line but skipped this one as I was more interested in Link, Midna, and Zelda. This makes excited for True Form Midna.

I am super excited to get my True Form Midna too. I bet I will have fun taking pictures of her. I am curious to see how the combination of glow in the dark and UV reactive paint will play out in photos and on display.
