Hmmmm I love the concept but so far...

Don't like Frame Arms, Busou Shinki, or Megami Device cuz tbh they're kinda ugly and awkward proportioned...

Desktop Army is super cute. I'm just waiting for a different colour scheme

Polynian is Awesome! And it's the closest in style to the work of Dimention Diver ENTRY #7861

Really fluid and curvy mech are the best. Getter Robo is the best. Dimention Diver is the best.

I like the art of Shimada Fumikane. I got strike witches. Also Eiji. Got a triggerheart exelica figure. I don't need posable figures though; not really going with the hype.

Gundam and mecha girls have different markets/audience so it's like comparing apples to oranges. It's like saying that gunpla is threaten by tank/plane models that majority of gunpla/mecha modelers switch to that. It's basically a matter of line preference (mecha, real life vehicles, mecha/armor girls, etc.).

A better comparison I would say is with Bandai's AGP line or maybe their planned new line which might contain armor/mecha girls model kit dedicated to the said line.

I love building model kits but gundam/most robot designs don't interest me.
So if I have to choose, I'll buy a mecha musume instead.
the Frame Arms anime was so entertaining that I gave in and bought a Baselard.

That said, it's important to note that they're not a competition or threat to gundam kits.
The FA and FA:G kits are way overpriced compared to gunpla, and I don't think they share their audience. Think of figma collectors not buying SHF figures. They're both action figure lines but figma collectors will not even look at SHF.
Bandai did realise there's a market for this type of thing, and started making their own to compete. Even if they're bad right now, they'll improve over time probably.

On one end, I like the concepts in how they work, where other pieces could be used together from other figures like the Megami Device and Frame Arms Girls can. It gives a fun customizing ability to them in creating characters, from how creative I've seen some individuals be with them. I love machine characters in general. I almost gave in to get a Megami Device ninja as well, before deciding against it. Cause at the same time, I knew I wouldn't really have the time to mess with it for a while, and didn't want to bother purchasing extra tools to work in the hobby. But there are also some things that I don't like about this new trend, like choice of the default hair style like pig tails, the faces on the Frame Arms, skirts, boobs getting bigger like they are on the asra Megami Device or how they can be overly sexualized sometimes with some additional parts.. Also, do they always have to be female? How about some males, or just genderless ones in general without boobs?

It's hard to say whether these mecha girls will give Gundam a hard competition or not. I mean, yeah, sex sells, so of course the female mechas are always going to sell like hot cakes cause they're cute or you can make them super sexy with over bloated breasts and what not. But I think Gundams attract a very specific group of people from the start anyways that the mecha girls just don't meet. Gundam kit builders will probably just keep along trekking with their thing, like model planes kit builders, or miniature painters still keep trekking to theirs. The mecha girls seem like it just creates a new type of model kit group really.

I do like what I see in concept and design from GSC so far though. But I think that metal skirt design is a bit random for it and hope it can be customizable enough to remove or reuse those pieces to be something else than just that. Fun idea in how they made the container for the kit, also be a stand for the figure too. Looking forward to see how GSC expands their ideas and take on the trend in adding their own flare to it.

A couple of the Frame Arms have looked cool, but nothing I've really needed to run out and buy. I am interested in seeing where Goodsmile's line goes and with what's seen, could see myself potentially getting 1.

Admittedly, I've been far more fascinated with Robo-Shotas in the Polynian line. Been watching Alvin, Lucio, and the Peaceclay one.

I'm ok with the whole concept if done tastefully, but I'm not a fan of these recent designs, they seem very unnatural and I feel they are forced and done solely for the purpose of just "lets get in on the hype and wrap some funky armor on the girl".

Personally I don’t enjoy the aesthetic of the Frame arm girls too much, but that GSC figure definitely caught my attention. Would be willing to give those kinds of figures a shot.
