Maakie (3 месяца назад) #31477513Pretty much every cast member in Evangelion has such a hard life, dang. I get you on Asuka, when she's alone or when she's silent, it just brings up these feelings of wanting to comfort her...to me, at least.

This takes me back to the old days where people would debate the appeal of the various Eva characters.

Probably the best explanation I ever heard of the appeal of the Asuka character is that there is this perception that if she just found the right person who could "fix" her, then she would be happy.

victorviper (3 месяца назад) #31420374I suspect that it's quite tiring to be Asuka with her difficult family history and the front she keeps up perpetually, so I suspect she would spend a lot of quiet moments like this. Poor Asuka...
Nice eye on the fingernails. Some of the nails are pretty detailed, and others not so much so. For example on her left hand, the nail on her thumb is sculpted and has a little bit of sheen, but then most of the other nails on that hand are minimally sculpted. Weird.
I also like the way she looks with Muse :). You can almost imagine Muse trying to cheer up Asuka a little bit.

Those finger nails are really messing with me, especially the huge nail indent on her right hand thumb. I also have some older figures, mainly older prize figures, with strange fingernails, but it just keeps on being bothersome. I rather see no finger nail detail than this. :P

Yes, this review made me realize we need more figures with chairs! :)

Maakie (3 месяца назад) #31420296Oh! Finally the review of this one! <3 I do wonder why they changed the color of her top, as it seems to be either black, grey, dark blue or the like from the shading in the original artwork (maybe it would blend too much with the dark colors of the chair?). Still, I think her posing, and this figure overall, is very unique. Next to it being very fitting for Asuka, you also don't see a lot of figures with such an expression and tired-looking hunch in a chair. Not all anime figures have to be either action-packed or happy!
Are also my eyes tricking me or did they not paint any of the nails on her right hand while they did the left hand?? I re-read your review to be sure, but I don't think you called out on this. Zooming in here: static.myfigure...
Anyway, nice review! Glad you made so much shots of this one. :) I also like how she matches with Muse!

Rajke (4 месяца назад) #31044192I can feel the pain in my back when looking at Asuka's pose.
The quality is not bad considering that this figure is 8 years old (at minimum).
I don't think her face isn't off when comparing it to the original illustration. From the picture below the comparisson picture where she is shown from another angle you see that her face has the same expression. The biggest difference with the artwork is that her shirt should be black. (i also think a black shirt would fit better on Asuka)
Thanks for uploading the review. :D

The color of the top is open to some interpretation. Assuming that shot of Asuka is taken with the piano in the ruined church where Shinji finds Kaworu, the lighting probably isn't so good, and maybe it looks darker than it really is.

I scanned my Der Mond and Die Sterne artbooks to see if Sadamoto ever drew that illustration in color as a "canon" source, but I couldn't find one.

tachola (4 месяца назад) #31044020wow, her face is stunning. like you said, i think they captured her "vulnerable" yet vacant look perfectly. great review, super detailed!

    Thanks for the comment!

CaptainZ Not bad considering the age of the figure. I do think the face is off but the other details are top notch. Great review.

minami_desu (4 месяца назад) #31043955Great blogpost! I really like that this figure represents ThAt side of Asuka. And especially loved the pic where you combined the figure and the original illustration! Thanks for taking all that pictures comparing her to the other Asukas.

I sort of get the impression that many people don't know this figure even exists. Also, about 95% of the Asuka figures out there (maybe even more!) depict her brash and arrogant side and it's nice to see an item that captures her other side, particularly when it's as nicely done as this figure!

    Thanks for the comment!

I wish the MFC blogs had one section for real content and another for people complaining about sh*t

The face *is* just a tiny bit different from the illustration. There's just a teeny bit of the usual feisty Asuka peeking through in the manga illustration, but in the figure that is pretty much absent.
