Going on my second year in this hobby and I have not learned from my first year of impulse buying, therefore, I had to participate in my local anime convention's swap meet (Fanime 2016), again.

Day 1

The set up:

I had my "A" list lineup on day one. I should have had the archer and Rin nendoroid together. I should have had some tarp or something for the floor, but carrying all these figures, at once, is very difficult and I didn't have the space carry one (was too lazy to buy one).

Notes on day one line up:

- The Link nendoroid was going to be a Christmas to a girl I liked, but decided not to give it, ha.

- Everything was sealed except for the [Max Factory] Taiga scale, the [Phat] Yoshino scale, and the [Wave] K-on! girls in the recruiting animal costumes.

- The most upper left figure is the Ichiban Kuji, last one, Saber Zero.

Day one left over:

I'm glad most of my stuff sold. I'm suprised Yoshino didn't sell.

Everyone was asking about that Ichiban Kuji Neo Queen Serenity all night (20:00 - 00:00). This one person tried to trick me by asking if I could price match with a counterfeit off ebay (17.50 USD something) lol. What a jerk!

I have this [Aquamarine] Ninja Slayer scale left over from last year and, of course, it did not sell. If this figure doesn't sell on Day 2, then I'm going to finally open it and enjoy it after owning this figure for 1.5 years.

Day 2

The set up:

Set up notes:

- I regret bringing the Nichijou prize figures. As soon as the swap meet opened, I did not want to sell them. But, didn't want to put them back so I decided to have a exhibit for display only.

Video on my set up and my friend's:

Day 2 left over:

- At the end of the night, all of the Madoka scales sold except Madoka and Miki. I decided to keep Madoka and this p.o.s. person wanted Miki (sealed; unopened) for $20.00! I was too tired to pop off on his bitch ass (it was a very long day and night)... I wanted to punch him...

- I'm opening that Ninja Slayer scale XD

- Many asked about the Taiga scale and beach queen version, but no sale.

- I have so many of the Ika Musume gachapon that I gave one away to anyone that bought a figure or asked about them.

Overall: It was a very tiring two days of swap meet (hours day 2- 20:00-1:00). It was my second year in doing this and I had better learn my lesson. I will NOT impulse buy anymore! I do not want to do this again, although, it is still a very fun experience and talking to fellow anime figure collectors, offline, is always awesome.

Shout out to the Fanime Swap meet staff for running another smooth swap meet. And hello to those remembered me from the Fanime 2015 swap meet and those I talked to this years. Next year's, Fanime 2017, I will go to the swap meet as a customer, next time.

Fanime is always a fun experience for me. Been attending every year since 2009. Enjoyed the panel "Anime to watch before you die" and the concerts are always fun. I am now a fan of Da-iCE, heh. Bought their albums when I got back from the convention.

My favorite song and performance Da-iCE (not my video):

With Fanime 2016 over and getting ready for Round 2 of my anime convention season with AX 2016, hopefully, I can do a "hat trick" and attend SacAnime to end off my convention season.

nammy4 года назад#11176766Sounds about right. She goes on eBay for more, I think? Of course, that's not the point.
Your price was fair.

I can see it from a casual point of view that 50.00 USD for a really tiny figure is outrageous. The price is pretty good and no shipping! What more do they want?

I'll probably open NQS Kuji when I get the terrible, Figuart Zero Princess Serenity >.>

And the box was damaged badly from the transportation...

godofwar74 года назад#11087628I remember your article last year about sword girls not selling :)

I even trolled myself toward the end of the night with the price; 40.00 USD for it sealed and still no sale! I only got to watch two episodes of the anime and now that I finally opened her, I have to finish the anime. It is a really beautiful figure XD

shinhawk4 года назад#11089702Oh man, a Christie Monteiro Bishoujo. I would have been all over that!

You don't even want to know how much I sold her for... Hopefully, there are going to be some SFV character koto bishojou figures, I want my main, Laura.

SkyBlue4 года назад#11095961That looks fun! It's a great opportunity to interact with others ^^ though the hours might be long and there's bound to be a few quirky buyer but I'm sure there are nice ones too :D Thanks for sharing! Never knew there's such a swap meet ^^

It is very fun, for sure! A lot of energy, effort, and planning of transportation of figures is the most difficult part because your figure boxes will get damaged. But, totally worth showing off your goods.

99% of the people I talked to were very friendly, nice, and they knew their hobby. Which surprises me that don't see them here, on MFC.

Thanks for taking time to check out this blog and id say anime merch. swap meets are the best!

I was selling it for 50.00 USD and I paid 6,000 yen + 900 yen shipping for it =\

diamondburst194 года назад#11084337I wish my conventions had a swap meet D: It would provide an opportunity to interact with other figure collectors and avoid outrageous prices from vendors.

I think all grass roots style conventions should have a swap meet if any group of people are interested in organizing one. I had a great time talking to other collectors.

For me, this hobby feels very isolated and being able to talk to other hardcore collectors, offline, is really fun.
