It must be the third (Rei's batch)...It must be the third (Rei's batch)...Loot

I'm always wary of buying things on summer because I have the impression that the postmen are slacking off since it's vacation time.
It's been a while since I mass-shopped for some new Rei Ayanami for my collection, so I was already figuring my packlets lost in the hell of empty post offices as one of them was one day off from my pink-coloured forecasts... But this morning I received two packs! Even the one that I was expecting to reach me next week! OOOOH!
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle01_zps27561cd2.jpgI'm a bit shocked. It looks almost as if international shipping is faster than internal shipping, sometimes ò_o;

Anyway, here's the content of the first pack unveiled!
My long-waited C:MO ;3; !!
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle02_zps4a079874.jpgI waited 'til the price dropped a bit, and fortunately I found it used on this Rakuten shop: global.rakuten....
It's not one of the cheapest, but since it's one of the few Japanese shops that ship internationally by SAL, you can avoid the extra expenses for internal shipping and commissions that you usually meet when dealing with an intermediary service.

I must say that I wasn't really fond of this figure and I bought it only out of fangirling. Boys, I was wrong.
It's probably the best action figure that I even had the luck to put my hands on.
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle03_zps8ca5ab7d.jpg--And she looks lovely.
The details are stunning and I'm really glad that I had the will to buy it!
The figure comes with a magnetic pedestal that is the best (even if quite bulky)!

This is the content of the second packlet, coming from a shopping spree on FromJapan-- It was during one of their "15% discount" event, and I decided to buy some cheap pieces to give more consistency to my collection.
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle04_zps2ece5753.jpg
--And here are the contents unveiled!
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle05_zpsb79dd598.jpgSpecial feature of this batch is the vintagelicious Active Styling Figure Series's Rei by Kotobukiya, then came the apparently not-so-interesting Special Mission #2, the figurine of Full Moon from the Mini Display Figure: Stars & Constellations series (both of them by the good ol' SEGA) and finally a Portrait by Bandai.
These aren't such rare or expensive pieces, but I felt like buying them to enrich my collection and give some "context" to some pieces that came weirdly "alone".

This said, let's start with the Active Styling.
This thingie is pretty old, I couldn't find the release date on the box, but on Ebay I found an Utena from the same series of action figures dated 1997.
As Utena is signed as the fourth release of the series and Rei is the first, this action figure with the details of a doll should date the same year or earlier.
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle06_zpsf6ba33b6.jpg--And it really looks its age!
The girl is very poseable (a bit too much ò_o), but her joints feel very loose and snappy, so she's difficult to pose and balance, despite the superbe joints (and what's written on the box!).
As she's a 1/8 scale, she perfectly fits that horrible pedestal of Revoltech Rei, so I squeezed her tiny waist into it and exposed her in my showcase without further ado.

Here's a comparison between the XX and XXI century ;D
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle07_zpsbb8df61a.jpgI'm fond of the "teen's body" of the Active Styling. It fits the character. In comparison the sculptor of the C:MO felt like "he tried too hard" to make her cute and appealing according to modern standards of moe... Those boobs are a bit out of place, for example...

I'm very happy that I managed to get them, though! They look adorable among their "sisters" (or "clones"?!) <3
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle08_zpsf8eb0aca.jpg

Speaking of the other figures, here they are in use:
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle11_zps973dd106.jpgFirst, the Portraits.
I'm fond of these trading figures, and I love Rei all bandaged up-- I owned the plug-suit version, so I wanted to "pair it up" with her "school uniform" counterpart ^^ It's a fixation of mine as an avid collector ;o; Sorry if I sound weird T_T;

These are really old-fashioned, and that's their charm!
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle09_zpsd386e382.jpgI loved Rei in a military outfit, and because of my fixation for Sengoku Jidai, a ninja Rei sure hit the spot!

Last but not least, the mini-figure featuring the Full Moon, paired up with the one of my zodiacal sign--
http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/daevakun3/colle10_zps4bc1a2c1.jpg--My little Aries looked a bit lonely and out of context, so this representation of Rei as "the Rabbit on the Moon" was a nice touch to my collection :D

And, well... That's all.
See you again on the next delivery!

Figmas have lots of problems
Evangelion figmas dont fit the archetype
Also they dont always look like the protorype
Ranko figma was amazing untill people got her :)))
Old figmas with skirts have a problem to sit... skirt is from hard plastic
All the figmas come with minor diffects... ALL.
One legs a bit longer the wrist part can sometimes fall from the figma arm
The hole in the back sometimes too small
And i keep writing down a huge list.
After i tried nendos and figmas
I going to try RAH (levi in decem)

yokha6 лет назад#2302236lol so basically you judging the line by just having one?Exactly. I'm not going to spend over 4000 yen for something that misses parts whenever you try to pose it.

yokha6 лет назад#2302236You need a lot more source and a lot more people to make that judge, an revos far more sturdy than figmas?Did you read the other comments beside yours? Everyone is agreeing on the issues with the figmas.
The fact that they are frail compared to other action figures is a matter of fact. Then if instead of appreciating a honest conversation you're just here to make a point because you're a fan of the line and you're blind to its flaws, go ahead and consider yourself an expert ^_^

Daeva6 лет назад#2302094 skip lol so basically you judging the line by just having one? You need a lot more source and a lot more people to make that judge, an revos far more sturdy than figmas? XD I'm sorry I have to say this is the real lie for me. For C:MO they definitely use the same joint system as neuromancer yamato, and since I have rei and asuka C:MO I can say with a lot confident they will have the same loose joint as well.

angardia6 лет назад#2302157i cant understand how yahoo japan works , too bad for me :(
i heard i need something called proxy
and i have no idea how to choose this proxy >.<
why cant they just ship worldwide?!
also the search in japanese so it makes my life harder to even find an item
im such a fail >.<
I use this service: www.fromjapan.c...
So far it's the cheapest service that I found, and it's pretty reliable. The bad thing about proxy services is that you have to pay for the internal shipping (ie: the actioner is from Osaka, so you have to pay the shipping from Osaka to Tokyo, where the storage of FromJapan is), and this may rise the price of your purchase incredibly. I always pick the "cheaper, not insured" option, but sometimes the seller uses the safer and more expensive method by default, and there's nothing to do about it :/

They don't ship internationally because their are afraid of Westerners XD They can't handle complaints for damages or such dealing with oversea shipping. Very little people can talk English in Japan, and usually the owners of these shops or the general auctioners don't, so it's another issue.
Plus, I got to know that some banks make people pay extra commissions for international trading, so the average user is discouraged to deal with it.

Some shops over Rakuten, though, do ship internationally: global.rakuten.... --The prices are average higher, but it's possible to find some good deals. I bought my C:MO from here, and I paid only 45 euros for it, shipping included :3

Daeva6 лет назад#2302145It was on Yahoo!Auctions, I managed to get her for 3000 yen (that become 3360 once I was done with the commissions and random fees, shipping excluded), which is not exactly cheap, as it was for around 2500 yen on AmiAmi back then, but who knew that the price was destined to increase with time :/ !
Yes, I know the feeling! It's fulfilling to complete a series, right XD ?
--And so you confirm that the flexibility increased with the later figmas? I'm glad to hear so.
Oh, I know that! Very pretty!
I don't own it either, but again, I've limited space for my collection ._.

Daeva6 лет назад#2301180Good luck ;o; !
I got mine from an auction, so it came relatively cheaper than its original price... You should try that too!
--Figmas are really cute and well-sculpted, unfortunately they really suck then it comes to poseability and sturdiness... The best thing of the Rei figma its the cockpit that comes with it! That's really stunning (but frail, though ;_; )!

what auction you used?
shes around 5,000 yen everywhere atm
i have asuka and mary figmas and they arent flexible as my other figmas :(
but i want to complete the set with Rei, always have this feeling i miss her on amiami =\
i have a mate whos a huge evangelion fan and he got an amazing rei figure

MarionEtx6 лет назад#2301641Somehow I found myself on a Rei quest as well, specifically to get all of her articulated figures, but I didn't know about the C:MO version! I was lucky enough to find Rei's Figma on Mandarake and just got her yesterday. I agree that her sitting ability is somewhat limited and her cockpit handles don't stay connected :( I like the size of the C:MO though so I might have to get this one too; thanks for sharing the link :D--Consider that the C:MO came out exactly when I finally managed to buy my figma, so that was really frustrating XD It took a while to let the price drop significantly, but I finally managed to get it T_T
The C:MO is very good as an action figure, but somehow I don't like the sculpting, even if it has its charming point... It's a bit too "plump and soft" to really fit the character, in my opinion.

yokha6 лет назад#2301872the first thing that makes me writes that comment because you not mentioning specific figma so I assume you mean all figmas just like what you said, which is I really have to dissagreeObviously I don't have any other figma besides Rei's, but that's because I don't see any use for them. As I'm not satisfied by one, I don't see why I should buy more XD
I talked about the issue with other friends who use to collect them, though, and they all share my opinion.
The winning point of the figma is its sculpting, that's really above average. But if I have to buy a figure for the sculpting, I prefer to get a standing figure with more details rather than an action figure that I can't pose.

yokha6 лет назад#2301872but as far I love them, I have to be honest, their joints was really loose, especially waist(chest), neck, shoulder, eventho they not easily falling off, so I really know the difference as wellI don't know, they don't look loose at all to me... They move quite smoothly in my opinion, and I see no problem to make a pose stay in place.
Also, after 5 minutes that I was playing with my figma, its leg fell off. It didn't happen with the C:MO.

yokha6 лет назад#2301872I can tell figma joint was more smooth and sturdy than all my fraulein revos and revosThat's because the Revoltechs use a system that blocks in place the joints everytime you move them, that's why they feel hard to pose.
But don't say that figmas are sturdier that Revoltechs! That's a blatant lie D: !

yokha6 лет назад#2301872so go ahead if you want to make a comparison review for them and goodluck.Yes, I'll do, thank you XD
I'll just play a little more with the C:MO before, to see if the joint really loose up as you said.

kevinlowl6 лет назад#2301450I bought a CYLINDER from IKEA just for this Rei. Sadly no pics to show cause I can't quite get the concept which I envisioned so perfectly in my head to work in real life. >.<Ahah, well, you must be praised for the attempt anyway! I hope that you'll manage to make your idea fit reality soon, 'cause it'd be really cool!

kevinlowl6 лет назад#2301450Nice loot btw! I'm waiting for that Rei with the RPG to arrive from Mandarake, together with Asuka.Yeah, the Special Mission figures are really nice! Besides, it's not just the RPG, there are a lot of cool weapons-- Too bad I lost the most of them ._.;
